The Invasion Engine is a completely scriptable 3d game engine, suitable for first or third person shooters, strategy games, RPGs, etc, to be used in several upcoming NSR productions.

Current development is closed to the public (except through our blog posts), however games based on this engine (a collection of media and scripts) may have varying licensing policies. All the details regarding final features and our exact distribution policies have yet to be decided, but they will be announced here first. Our aim is to make the scripting API and content creation pipeline as accessible as possible, and to help support and promote others in bringing their ideas to fruition.

The engine uses C and C++ internally, with a Lua scripting interface, and depends on open-source projects Ogre3d, OpenAL, and the Bullet physics library. The Invasion Engine will support Windows, OSX, and Linux (as well as hopefully any other Unix-like OS that the dependencies run on). The possibility of supporting consoles is not out of the question, but at this point we have no plans in this area.

Our main goal with this engine is to produce, for little to no cost, an engine capable of bringing unheard-of flexibility to game developers who want to have a game of their own, perhaps in an unconventional genre, but lack the time or skill needed to assemble such an enormous and detailed framework themselves. Specifically, the game developers' lives we are trying to simplify are our own, so you can be assured we'll spare no detail.

Active projects driving the development of the Invasion Engine are Combat 3d and Invasion, which you can access through the projects bar at the top of this page.
